About Us

Our Story
For Joe Sissoko, working with wood has never been just a trade. With more than a decade of experience as a sawyer, he built Atlanta Forest Products on a simple idea: every log has value, and every decision in processing it should respect both the material and the environment.
What started as a passion for milling has grown into a full-scale urban sawmill focused on quality, efficiency, and sustainability. We turn Atlanta’s fallen and locally harvested trees into dependable, high-quality lumber. Every part of the process happens in-house, from milling and kiln drying to flattening and planing. Keeping it all under one roof allows us to deliver consistent, stable lumber that’s ready to use.
Sustainability isn’t a buzzword for us. It’s the foundation of everything we do. Our work has already kept more than 1.4 million pounds of carbon from escaping into Atlanta’s atmosphere. Every log that comes into the mill is handled with a zero-waste mindset. Offcuts and byproducts are reused. Our vacuum kiln dries and stabilizes lumber while killing insects and mold, helping the wood last for generations instead of ending up in a landfill.
Our long-term goal is to become a carbon-negative company. We believe good craftsmanship should do more than create beautiful materials. It should also make the planet a little better than we found it.
Atlanta Forest Products is more than a sawmill. It’s a commitment to doing the right thing. To respecting the trees that grew in our city. To giving them a second life through careful, responsible work. Every board we mill is proof that sustainability and craftsmanship belong together.
